Hello!  This guide provides an overview of the services that PBSC librarians provide for faculty and instructors!  Whether you teach on campus, online, or for a hybrid course, you have a lot of flexibility in your options.  PBSC librarians can work with you in all settings and at all campuses.

In addition to the Library's study spaces, computers, books, and online collections, library services for faculty and instructors include the following broad areas.


Information IconInstruction Services

  • Library Instruction Sessions:  Librarians can be guest lecturers by providing a session for your students and can cover the following topics:
    • General Library Orientations
    • Subject-Specific Library and Information Sources:  PsycInfo, Health Sciences / Nursing, Education, History, etc.
    • Finding Information:  Evaluating Information; Plagiarism; Types of Sources; Using Artificial Intelligence (AI); Misinformation and Disinformation
    • Do you have something else in mind?  Contact us to go over your ideas and options!
  • Learning Objects:  Librarians can create learning objects for individualized for your course that can include handouts, sllides, online guides (LibGuides), Canvas modules, and recordings.  To inquire, contact your campus library or get in touch with your subject specialist librarian.

Consultation Services

  • For Faculty:  Librarians can assist faculty with library orientations, using library materials, creating recordings or library assignments for LMS modules, and linking to library materials in Canvas.
  • For Students:  Students can also be assigned to schedule a consultation for extra credit.  A librarian will advise students on any of the following:
    • Research assistance.
    • Tips on using the library and finding information.
    • Review of citation formatting (in-text and full citations).
    • Library verification (a "Blue Slip") can be provided to a professor to confirm student attendance.
