The research process gives you the chance to participate in an ongoing scholarly conversation in which information consumers and creators come together and negotiate meaning. Approach research as open-ended exploration and engagement with information.
Ask yourself:
1. What do you already know about the topic and what do you need to explore further?
2. What is the dialog or debate surrounding your topic?
Anatomy of a Scholarly Article (North Carolina State University)
Peer review is the process of pre-publicaton review by scholars of research manuscripts written by their peers. Once a manuscript has been reviewed, it may be sent back for further editing, published as an article, or rejected.
Read the title of the article and the name of the journal in which the study is published. Next, read the Abstract, which is usually one paragraph in length. Then check the text of the article:
Is their an Introduction, Methods or Methodology section, a Results or Research section, and Analysis or Discussion of research section, and finally a Conclusion? Most published studies will be organized in this way. Most studies are more than three pages long
