What is Constitution Day?

On September 17, 1787, 39 men, known as the delegates to the Constitutional Convention, met to sign the United States Constitution. Each year on September 17th, the United States celebrates Constitution Day by encouraging all to learn more about the US Constitution and our government.

Preamble of the Constitution

We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common Defense, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America.
