Learn what information you will find in library databases and when to use them appropriately for research.

Learn to generate effective search terms for database or web searching in this tutorial.

Activity

Compare keyword search results to that of subject searching.  Perform a keyword search in a database that uses subject terms.  Find a relevant subject term and search again using the subject term.  Compare these results with those of the keyword search.

Demonstrate search techniques.  Using a database, such as the all-in-one library catalog database, demonstrate (oral) or illustrate (written) the steps taken to define and refine your topic.
