APA Style Resource Center (6th EDITION): Tables and Figures

APA style of documenting and citing sources for college research, plus more.

Tables and Figures: Basic Rules

  • APA suggest that tables and figures (pictures, charts, graphs, maps) go after the reference page, however, they can be included in text. Check with your professor on where they will allow tables and figures to be located.

  • When referring to a table or figure in your text make sure you refer to the table or figure number.  Do not say table below or above.

  • Tables and figures should contribute to the narrative and should not be used as filler.
