· Teaching students NoodleTools as a means to make life easier and net result being – not to plagiarize. In line with this, urging students to use ANYTHING similar to NoodleTools (Bedford Handbook has a tool; Citation Maker; Knight Citer, etc.)
· Teaching students the ease of finding citations by searching databases; considerations for websites, too (i.e., Gale Power Search database provides citations for websites featured in the databases).
· Teaching students to consider the impact of citing sources on their credibility and to make each one look better to readers of papers. While I discuss the “bad student” side of plagiarism, I attempt to stress the positive side of citing sources – giving credit to those from whom information borrowed.
· Urge students to allow librarian – through appointment or reference desk – to review citation list in paper.
· Use a great video (abt 7 minutes long) to provide a thorough understanding of plagiarism in all its forms (see it at LibGuide: http://palmbeachstate.libguides.com/content.php?pid=32412&sid=239214
