Kindle Readers - Circulation Policies

Kindle Readers are available for checkout from the Circulation Desk (3rd floor) at the Lake Worth Campus Library. Kindles are checked out on a first-come, first-served basis and may be borrowed for 7 days.

To borrow a Kindle, you must have a valid Panther Card.  If you have any outstanding library fines or charges, you will not be allowed to check out a Kindle.

You are responsible for loss, theft, or damage to the Kindle and accessories. Do not leave the Kindle unattended. When returning the Kindle, make sure a staff member at the Circulation Desk checks the Kindle in and verifies that the equipment is in good working order. Do not return the Kindle to the book drops.

Loan Periods and Hours

All Kindles may be checked out for 7 days. A limited number may be on Reserve for a 7 day loan if a class has requested to do so.  Due to the limited number of Kindles available, they may not be reserved for individuals. They may be renewed if available.

Fines and Fees

Late return of Kindles is $1.00 per day.  These fines will be attached to your library record and may result in registration restrictions or the blocking of transcripts.

Users will be assessed a fine equal to the replacement cost if the Kindle is lost, stolen, or not returned. Damage charges will be assessed based on the actual repair cost. Replacement costs for the following will be:

  • USB cable $13.00
  • Power adapter $15.00
  • Slip cover $25.00

Downloading Materials

Each Kindle has eBooks that the College library purchased.  Any titles that you download to the Kindle will become the property of the Palm Beach State library. The library reserves the right to delete any titles.
